Michelle Germain, CCE, CD, RN, BSN
President


Michelle is a Registered Nurse (RN), Public Health Nurse (PHN), Certified Doula, Certified Childbirth Educator, and instructor at Mission College.  Michelle has been working in the childbirth field since 1993 and is a founding member of Bay Area Birth Information (BABI). 

 

After holding many positions on BABI’s board of directors, Michelle is currently serving as President.  She also sits on BABI’s grievance committee and doula peer review committee. 

Allana Moore 
Vice President

Allana has been apart of the birthing community since 2002 as a founding member of BABI. She has held previous board positions and is currently serving as secretary. Allana also is the coordinator for the South Bay Ask the Experts and is in the process of organizing a volunteer doula program for the community. 


Allana has a BA in Public Service and Social Change and a minor in Woman’s Studies from SJSU. She is very passionate about women’s health and continues to provide support and education to students as SJSU as a guest speaker. Allana’s other passion is working with pregnant homeless teens and young adults as a mentor and doula. She currently works as a birth and postpartum doula and is busy teaching childbirth classes at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kaiser Santa Clara, Blossom Birth Services and Harmony Birth and Family.  


Anjali Agrawal, DC, IHS  
Secretary
Anjali is a Chiropractor and Internal Digestive Health Specialist, specializing in Pregnancy & Pediatrics.  She has had a lifelong passion for working with and being around children.  Anjali excitedly continues with BABI's Board of Directors for another term, Co-Directing the Peninsula Chapter.  She also organizes and facilitates the Peninsula Ask the Experts panel.
Anjali's primary goal for the BABI Peninsula Chapter has been to see a more wide-spread recognition of BABI and our mission statement throughout our community.

Treasurer

Bridget has been BABI’s treasurer for the several years and has worked long hours to take BABI to the next level on the financial front.  She also sits on the Budget & Grievance Committees, and facilitated Ask the Experts until recently.

Bridget is a Master Herbalist, Certified Flower Essence Practitioner, and Lactation Specialist and the owner of Sweet Herb Medicinals, LLC.  She facilitates weekly breastfeeding support groups at Harmony Birth & Family and teaching breastfeeding, along with consultations with mothers who are in need of breastfeeding help and support.

Bridget is also the mother of three courageous girls and has a new baby on the way (another girl??).


Rowen Holland
Membership Director

Rowen has been a part of the South Bay's birth community in many forms since 2000, including as a founding member of BABI.  Her passion in helping families create the births they desire is evident in all she does through education and activism.  Currently, she holds the position of Membership Director and Webmistress, along with serving on the grievance & doula peer review committies, Education co-chair (with Patricia Madden), and facilitating Homebirth Lunch.  


Rowen holds a BA in Women and Sexuality, with an emphasis in midwifery and social activism. She is a doula, Birthing From Within childbirth mentor, & senior student midwife.  She is the mother to a teenager who was peacefully born at home and continues to be the light of Rowen's life. 


General Board Member

Michelle holds a BA in Psychology and has been working as a birth & postpartum doula, pre- and perinatal massage therapist and aromatherapist since 2010. She is a new addition to BABI's Board of Directors and currently holds the position of General Board Member.  


Michelle is also mother to four sons, ranging from 14 to under one.

Peninsula Chapter


Sandy Caldwell
Peninsula Chapter Director

Sandy has been an active volunteer for BABI since 2001, including founding the Peninsula Chapter, and has recently rejoined our Board after a several year absence, serving as Director for the Peninsula Chapter.

Sandy is a DONA-certified birth doula, a postpartum doula, and a Birthing From Within mentor. Additionally, she maintains membership with the Association for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health and a member of Resources for Infant Educators.  She is also the mother of three wonderful daughters and two very sweet grandsons.
