BABI Peninsula
BABI's newest chapter, BABI Peninsula, is now forming to carry BABI's mission and wonderfully successful community-building to Peninsula care providers and expectant and new parents.

You can find BABI Peninsula providers by selecting "Peninsula" from the Geographic Area popup. Providers choose what geographic areas they serve in the provider list. Generally, those in the 650 area code focus on providing services to the Peninsula.

BABI South Bay
As the birthplace of BABI, the South Bay is the original BABI chapter. BABI has brought many great events to the South Bay. This includes monthly events like Meet the Doulas Night, the annual Meet BABI fair, and the "Ask the Experts" panel. BABI also co-produced the play "Birth" in conjunction with the City Lights Theater in 2006.

The South Bay Chapter Leadership includes:

You can find BABI South Bay providers by selecting "Greater South Bay" from the Geographic Area popup. Providers choose what geographic areas they serve in the provider list. Generally, those in the 408 area code focus on providing services to the South Bay.




BABI chapters support our mission to increase awareness of evidence-based care and the choices available to birthing women. Chapters help to bring local events to their immediate areas, connect families to local resources, and strengthen the community of providers.

We currently have a South Bay & Peninsula chapter, but welcome members from anywhere in the Greater Bay Area. Any members from areas outside established chapters are encouraged to organize and apply for chapter status. Referral Lists
BABI only publishes one Resource Guide (our printed referral list) which contains all BABI providers, regardless of chapter affiliation. Similarly, the BABI website provider list includes all BABI Professional Members. Providers specify what geographic areas they serve.

Funding
A portion of each membership is allocated to the BABI Chapter of your choice. These funds are set aside for chapter specific gatherings and events. Members are asked to choose which chapter they would like to be affiliated with on the membership application. All members are welcome at events hosted by any BABI chapter (regardless of chapter affiliation). All chapters have access to general BABI funds for larger events upon approval of a budget by the Board of Directors.

Chapter Committee/Leadership
Each chapter has a leadership team (Chapter Committee) which is responsible for chapter level decisions. The Chapter Committee will be elected by the members of the chapter.

This governing committee will be made up of, at minimum, the following officers:

•	Board Liaison who acts as the head of the chapter committee and is a voting member of the BABI Board of Directors.
•	Recorder who keeps records of the chapter's meetings and proceedings.
•	Membership Representative who assists the Membership Chair of the Board of Directors in processing and keeping track of memberships within the chapter.

Chapters may decide to have other members on their committee to see to it that chapter business runs smoothly.
